The Portals

(We haven't decided all the locations yet, this is just an idea. Comment and propose other ideas, to improve the roleplay)

There is a total of 3 portals in and around [town's name]. Every portal leads to a different dimension and all of them re- and disappear in the same locations.

Portal Entry #1: Dimension - unknown.
Changes location between a tree circle in the nothern forest, a misterious building by the ruins and an underground cave in (more like underneath) the harbor.

Portal Entry #2: Dimension's name - The lost forest. A parallel dimension to our world, consisting of a simple forest. The deeper you enter this realm, the more demons, spirits and magical creatures you will encounter. Most of them aren't very agressive, they don't really seem to care about each other, but there are some exceptions.
The following portal changes location between the old church in the ruins, one of farmer Steve's fields (Old Farm) and the lake.

Time Travel Portals
You can turn a "normal" portal into a time-portal by completing a certain spell. The procedure is very complicated and not much is known about it either.
You would firstly need to find the correct spell to enchant the portal (which is different for every one of the 3 portals). Then you'd have to perform the spell on the right time. At the same time, you would need to find the correct gem, required to open the portal correctly and an object related to the time. While 1 person says the spell, another one has to enchant the portal with the gem and throw in the object. Don't forget to write down to exact date on the object or you will face the consequenses.
All in all, it's a very complicated procedure. Kid, please don't try this at home.
